Day 1

We all safely arrived at JFK for our departure, some of us earlier than others. Poor Sam had been at the airport for 8 hours before the rest of us arrived. Kay and Nicole were also there hours before, readier than ever to fly to London. The flight went well, no delays or problems, however none of us were able to sleep on the flight, so jet lag hit us hard when we finally arrived in London. The first thing we all noticed were the differences in the roads, cars and drivers. The cars are built smaller and with the steering on the other side, the roads are opposite the direction of the roads in the States, and the drivers have the freedom to multitask while driving including talking on the phone, eating, drinking and even reading! (Not pictured: Julien and Kathryn. They were off together enjoying their last meal in the States!)

Professors Wolfe and Parkhouse allowed us a brief nap before they took us out for our first day in London. We took our first ride on the Tube System, which is similar to the NYC subway but much safer, cleaner, efficient and easy to use. We took the Tube to Piccadilly Circus and we viewed some of the amazing architecture of the buildings, and experienced what it was like to be a pedestrian in London. We briefly walked through Regents Park, which is full of greenery and wildlife, and a pond that Professor Wolfe says we can paddleboat through! We ended the day early so that we can rest and catch up on some sleep. We are all enjoying ourselves on this amazing journey, but we are even more excited to experience it when we are fully conscious and not sleep deprived!
