Day 13

Today was another early morning since we had to catch a 9am train in King's Cross Station. We quickly ate breakfast and met with Professor Wolfe who took brought us to the Baker Street tube station. On our way to the tube, Professor Wolfe informed us that President Barack Obama was currently visiting England, and had arrived late last night. She also told us that he had spent the night in the United States Embassy which is located just minutes from Regents College in Regents Park, and we joked that President Obama was our neighbor for a day. The tube brought us to King's Cross National Railway Station where we met up with Professor Parkhouse and waited patiently for our train, which was running late. There was a massive crowd in a hurry when the platform number was finally announced, but we eventually boarded the 2 hour train to York and were even lucky enough to get seats near each other. After arriving in York, we headed to the bus station to catch a one hour bus tour around the city. We boarded a York Pullman City Tour bus and braved the chilly wind from the Open Top for the duration of the tour. We passed various attractions including York Minster, Theatre Royal, York Dungeon, and Dick Turpins grave on Margaret Street before meeting up with Professors Parkhouse and Wolfe for lunch.

They took us to the Golden Slipper where we experienced our first taste of Yorkshire Pudding. From there, we took a scenic route up and down busy streets to window shop different stores on our way to the York Museum. Stationed near the entrance to the museum was an ice cream truck that we could not pass up. Professor Wolfe treated us all to ice cream cones which we enjoyed eating while we watched some local goslings stumbling and flopping through the car park with their parents closely behind.
We spent an hour inside the museum living in similar surroundings to people from long ago. We saw the interior rooms of houses, schools, jails, and play yards, and had fun pretending to be actual people from those times. After the museum, we headed back to the train station and caught the 3:35 pm train back to London. We are all going out as a group tonight for some fun and exploring.
